Hundreds of people attend the Bangladesh Independence and National Day celebrations.
On Sunday, 400 guests, including luminaries from many walks of life, attended a reception held by Bangladesh ambassador Md Nazrul Islam in Doha to commemorate Bangladesh's Independence and National Day.
The honoree was Qatar's Minister of Environment and Climate Change, HE Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani. In his remarks, the ambassador paid heartfelt tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, for his lifetime fight, charismatic leadership, and historic contribution.
Ambassador Nazrul Islam honored the extraordinary sacrifices made by national leaders, martyrs, and freedom fighters throughout Bangladesh's liberation struggle. He expressed thanks to the friendly countries and individuals who helped Bangladesh throughout its independence battle.
Describing Bangladesh as a "Development Miracle," he emphasized the country's socioeconomic progress under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's leadership and her Government's vision to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and transform Bangladesh into a smart developed country by 2041.
Ambassador Nazrul Islam also emphasized Qatar's exemplary success in development, diplomacy, sports, international and regional peace and stability under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and thanked him and the Government of Qatar for their ongoing support to Bangladeshi expatriates in Qatar.
Bangladeshi schoolchildren and Doha-based Bangladeshi singers performed dance and song performances about the country's history, independence, determination, and progress, heritage, natural beauty, art, and culture.
